* Pet Dog Training - At the Ashley Community Centre *

First Class and Kindergarten 7:00PM - 8:00PM
For older dogs to determine what previous training has occurred & which of the next classes is most suitable.

For young puppies this is a lovely small class not too overwhelming. Handler & puppy receive personal attention.
It covers sits & downs, grooming, health checks, pros & cons of ID marking, legal responsibilities of owners.
Is also gives tips of little things to do to stop play biting, & to prevent resource guarding (growling when people approach its food bowl or toys).

Beginners 7:15PM – 8:00PM
All three positions. Sit, down and stand; teaching your dog to walk to heel on a loose lead without pulling forward or lagging behind.
Recall – how to get your dog to come back to you when called.
Learning manners to sit and wait for you to go through a door even when he is excited about going out.
Sitting still while you clip his lead on and off.
Learning to play with toys and to give them up when told.
Stay – learning how to wait whilst the owner walks away without being worried.
Instant downs, learining how to get your dog to go into a down quickly in an emergency.
How to get your dog to get in and out of the car under control.

Intermediate - 8.00 pm - 9.00 pm
Now that you have learned the basics of heelwork we put in little distractions, stopping and talking to other people with dogs, we learn turns, We increase the control on the recalls being able to ignore balls being rolled about and ignore other dogs. Retrieving a dumbell ; stays in the sit and the down.


These classes are designed to help you have a well mannered dog that is a pleasure to own plus you can take the Kennel Club Good Citizens test Bronze, Silver & Gold .

*Competitive Obedience - 9.00 pm - 10.00 pm


Now you have a good standard, take it one step further and you and your dog become a team , learning new skills like scent work, send aways and distance control (changing your dog’s positions sit, down, stand ) Heelwork dropping your dog in a sit or a down whilst you carry on walking. Preparing you for Pre-beginners and Beginners, You can then enjoy days out at shows in the summer, competing and making lots of new friends - doggy and people. You may even win a rosette or a trophy. If you get the bug who knows where it may lead - one day Crufts perhaps.


Each year a Club Shield is awarded to the club member who has achieved the most points during the year.
